The Therapist is responsible for providing substance abuse and mental health counseling services to the clientele of the JourneyPure program. In addition, a therapeutic modality of expertise with identified certification and credentials from an accredited training program. The Therapist follows the policies and procedures, appropriate regulations and guidelines of the agency and the state of Florida licensing/certification bodies.

Pay is based on experience. Benafits available after 90 days of full time status 401k, Health, Dental, PTO, Teladoc, Life, Long/short term disability.


  • Assumes responsibility for quality therapeutic care and treatment of clients and families through the supervision and guidance of the Clinical Director.
  • Utilizes Best Practices in the field of mental health and substance abuse.
  • Provide all clinical services based on the needs of the clients and has an in-depth understanding of the field of addiction/mental health.
  • Communicates with appropriate family members regarding clients current status /counseling in collaboration with the clinical treatment team.
  • Provides in-depth case management needs to the Case Manager in accordance with standards and policies, preparing transition/aftercare/discharge plans at admission and in conjunction with the clinical treatment team decisions.
  • Keeps Clinical Director informed of all clients counseling challenges at all times and advocates for clients success.


  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional developmental needs.
  • Collaborates through supervision with the Clinical Director to identify, meet and maintain ongoing educational needs required for the position.
  • Maintains and updates all necessary educational requirements (CEUs) to keep state of Florida license current.
  • Presents educational trainings to clinical staff members as assigned.
  • Encourages, promotes and implements an environment of inclusion with clinical team and clients.

  • Currently maintains a masters degree from an accredited college/university and is licensed (or in the process of attaining licensure) in the state of Florida as a:
    Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

  • Minimum three (3) years experience and training that will provide the knowledge, skill and abilities in the following:
  • Ability to abide by the American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics and follows the policy and procedures of the agency.
  • Understands ASAM criteria guidelines and DSM-IV-TR diagnosing.
  • Understands the Stages of Change
  • Maintains charting and documentation to agency standards.
